An attractive and nicely engraved map of Florida and South Carolina with insert of Charleston.  Orlando, St. Petersburg, Myrtle Beach are yet to shown on maps like this.  St. Augustine, given its historical importance is prominently featured.  The geographical detail, accurate and carefully delineated, is contained within an elaborate and decorative engraved border.  It is from "Mitchell's New General Atlas, Containing Maps Of The Various Countries Of The World, Plans of Cities, Etc.".  Samuel Augustus Mitchell, a Scotsman who emigrated to the young US, was a well-known map publisher with many Atlases and maps to his credit.  Nicely colored counties.
