This map is the French version of Kitchin's Mexico or New Spain in which the Motions of Cortes may be traced. It is part of Vol. 3 of the French version of the History of America by Robertson,  It covers the region from Louisiane to Nouvelle Albion and all of Mexico sans the Yucantan. The region of present-day Arizona and New Mexico is well delineated with numerous Indian villages and the locations of missions. The area from New Mexico to Louisiana is labeled Grand Espace de Terre inconnue (Great Space of Land Unknown). An inset shows Mexico City on the large Lake of Mexico.  Finely engraved by Benard with a decorative title cartouche and compass rose.
