This ornate antique map covers Northwest Russia, from the Arctic Ocean and Finland to just beyond the Petzora River. It highlights in detail the topography along with a plethora of villages, towns and roads. It is decorated with a nice title cartouche featuring putti and a variety of scientific instruments. This is the North sheet of Elwe's version of De L'Isle's important map of the European portion of the Russian Empire in the late 16th century.
