This is a very nice, large map of the region of the world that was known in classical Roman times. However, the detailed topography is up-to-date for the 18th century, and so are settlement names. The Nile River is shown with its Ptolemaic source in the Lunae Montes, in addition to its correct source. A wind rose at upper left gives the Latin names for the winds. The decorative title cartouche is flanked by two scholars. Published in London by Robert Sayer.
